These online brokerages allow you to buy stock or even pieces of shares of stock (if you want to) and offer everything a normal broker would do. You will need to open an account with them which could range from nothing up to $15,000 or more.
The level of experience you have in the stock market should influence what online brokerage you pick if you decide to use one. The ones that require large sums of money in their account are perfect for those with experience who don’t feel like calling their broker all the time. You can just buy and sell yourself through the online brokerage. You can use one of their brokers also for a small fee per trade. The ones that don’t require you to have an account with money in it are wonderful for those who just want to dabble and get the hang of things. You can buy and sell stock for low fees between $5.00 and $12.00 a trade. If you experiment and educate yourself on the stock market for a few months, you might be ready for some serious trading!
Before you commit to any online brokerage, research them first. Many are well known and have a great reputation but smaller ones are springing up all the time. Don’t send money to any company unless you trust them 100%.
